A 22-YEAR-OLD woman appeared in court on Monday charged with the murder of a Todmorden man who was found stabbed to death in a flat in the early hours of last Friday.
Candice Marie Gill of Roomfield Street was remanded in custody by Calderdale Magistrates to appear at Bradford Crown Court on September 12.
Matthew Daniel Wood, 33, was found stabbed to death in the flat at Roomfield Street, Todmorden, at 2.30am last Friday. He was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital but pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Gill, who has long, curly blonde hair and wore a pink v-neck tee shirt walked slowly to the dock, flanked by two female security guards. She spoke only to confirm her details.
Richard Brown, representing Gill, made no application for bail.
She was arrested last Friday on suspicion of murder along with two girls aged 11 and 15, who were later released.
Tributes to Mr Wood, who was originally from Rochdale, have been posted on Todtalk community website and shocked residents have described his death as "very tragic."
Another message said: "He's gonna be sadly missed by a lot of people. But his memory will echo through the town's pubs for a long time."
Others read: "My thoughts and prayers are with his family" and "RIP mate."
Mr Wood's death came two days after the discovery of a skeleton behind Todmorden market.
The remains are believed to be those of Robert Briggs, 32, who had been missing since July 17 and who is thought to have known Mr Wood.
The investigation into Mr Wood's death is being led by the Homicide and Major Inquiries Team and an incident room has been set up at Halifax Police Station.
