An aspiring fashion designer from Todmorden is over the moon after she was shortlisted for a nationwide design competition.

Laura Sharrock made the final three of a bag design competition run by HEAD sports bags, and impressed the judges with the iris pattern she illustrated herself.

Ms Sharrock said: “I was extremely thankful, excited and happy about being chosen as a finalist for the HEAD bag competition.

“I was proud of my design and felt that it represented the Spring/Summer 2015 theme of bright florals extremely well.”

Ms Sharrock said she entered the competition because she wanted to extend her portfolio and get her name out in the fashion industry.

As one of the final three, she saw her design realised and turned into a one-off bag.

One of the competition judges, HEAD’s Category Manager for Sport Bags, Carron Williams, said she was thrilled to see the passion and talent behind the designs.

“All of the finalists could have won and we’re proud to promote young, emerging British fashion designers.”

The aim of the competition was to encourage creativity and originality amongst young British design talent and to enable young designers to showcase their work to a wider audience.

Ms Sharrock said: “I’d like to thank HEAD UK for inviting me down to London and hosting a great night!”
