An exceptional councillor, she will be sadly missed

I was so sorry to hear that Town Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Todmorden Coun Anne James has passed away,

I have known Anne for many years as a friend but got to know her more when I was elected onto Todmorden Town Council in 2007. It was then I met the real Anne.

She was not only a friend she was more than that, Anne would be there for advice if needed. She was exceptional in her role as councillor for Cornholme, always there for the people she served and giving her time to Todmorden.

But what made her so special was her kindness to all she met, never a bad word for anyone. She was made Deputy Mayor only this year and would have been installed as our Mayor in 2014, what a fitting tribute that would have been for such a wonderful lady.

I know that her family would have been so proud to see that happen, but sadly it is not to be. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

May I, through your paper, send my heartfelt condolences to her family at this sad time.
