Halifax? No thanks!

AFTER reading the letters column (January 27) regarding the closure of the Oldham mail sorting office, I was left under the impression that most peole in Todmorden were in favour of going in with the HX (Halifax) postcode.

As far as I am concerned, that idea is welcomed with a huge “no thank you!”

Since Todmorden lost its municipality status when we were forced into the Halifax-based Calderdale, our services have dwindled beyond belief while our council taxes have increased, in many cases beyond our reach.

We no longer get our drains cleaned and in winter while the gritters are busy gritting the relatively seldom used country lanes our town has been completely ignored.

Tod should come out of Calderdale now, and run its own affairs. Good riddance to them down the valley.
