BEING one of the 7,000 who did not sign the Sortit petition, I have to say I cannot agree with Craig Whittaker’s assertion that the majority of Todmorden people are opposed to having a Sainsbury’s.
Having only 4,000 out of a possible 11,000 does not give the petition organisers a right to say they have a majority of support in their favour.
I am personally in favour. The proposed site is currently derelict and an eyesore and a store would certainly be an improvement, jobs created for local people, visitors come to town and shoppers have more choice.
I believ having Sainsbury’s here would be beneficial to the town. Many agree with me. The appeal in July should be interesting and I for one am looking forward to it.
