BRIDGEHOLME were unable to prevent Queensbury from taking the Towergate Halifax League Division Two title.
In one of the few matches to actually have any play Queensbury overhauled visitors Bridgeholme’s 98 for eight for the loss of six wickets.
The damp conditions meant that only a 25 over contest was possible.
The next six overs saw their innings disintegrate as six wickets fell for the addition of only 10 runs. Chief destroyers were seamer Phil Sharples (four for 27) and slow left armer Darren Jack (three for 38).
A robust 42, including four sixes, from Khalid saw the total pushed up to 97 when the innings closed.
The Queensbury batsmen also struggled, except Jon Bruce, who followed his two stumpings in the visitors’ innings with a run a ball 42.
When Taufeeq Mahmood bowled him the home men were left with a lot of work still to do at 56 for five.
However, Myers (20 not out) and Tom Watson added 30 in five overs before Watson was run out.
But with 13 runs off the 22nd over they clinched the title.
