One of Todmorden Cricket Club’s longest serving members was chosen as the club person of the year.
The award went to Miriam Claxton, who has been a member of the club almost all her life.
Miriam took over a catering role at the club two years ago and during that time has helped to arrange catering facilities at major matches and social functions.
As a lifelong member of the club, Miriam goes to all the first team matches and every year presents a special trophy of her own to the player who has impressed her most during the season.
Although a lifelong member, Miriam likes to maintain a a low profile allowing husband John to serve on the club’s committee.
Miriam was presented with her award at a ceremony at the club by president Malcolm Heywood.
l THE Lancashire Cricket League has announced it will have a new sponsor of the league for the 2012 season.
A three-year agreement has been signed with Heineken UK Limited which run until December 31, 2014.
The league will now be known as The Fosters Lancashire Cricket League.
League Chairman, Mike Bibby, made the announcement at the January monthly meeting of clubs.
He thanked Daniel Thwaites PLC for their sponsorship over the past three years and wished them every success for the future.
He reported that the League Executive were delighted to have attracted such a prestigious company as Heineken UK and were looking forward to working with their representatives to the mutual benefit of both parties.
