WOODHOUSE’S venture into the Halifax Sunday Cup came to an end against Premier Division opponents.
It might have been different if an Oliver Wood header had not hit the bar early in the second half when the home side was trailing 2 - 1.
But Woodhouse were on the back foot right from the start and Craig Vest had to pull off a number of saves.
After 30 minutes though, the home men went ahead against the run of play with an own goal coming from a Mathew Town long throw.
Five minutes later the scores were level with a breakaway goal after Woodhouse lost the ball in midfield and a minute before the break a second went in.
After the Wood chance, Woodhouse conceded a third, again after losing possession.
When the ball deflected in off Darren Preece from a free kick for the fourth, it was all over. But Woodhouse did not give up and five minutes from the end another Town long throw caused havoc.
The ball fell to Jordan Walker. The keeper parried his shot and it came back to him.
He moved it to Terry Lowe, who squared it for Joe Whitham to fire home.
Division Two leaders Woodhouse return to Rochdale Sunday League action at the weekend with a home game against mid-table VASA FC.
l IN Division Three of the Rochdale Sunday League, Royal George ran out 5 - 2 winners over The Star.
