First win cheers Borough reserves

TODMORDEN Borough Reserves may have turned the corner in registering their first win of the season.

They did it while the first team had no fixture and were in front after about 20 minutes.

Jamie Scott tackled the Ladybridge right winger and linked with Jack Dungworth.

He put in an excellent through ball to Elliott Gilford, who outpaced the defender and slotted it past the goalkeeper.

Ladybridge drew level about 10 minutes later after poor defending from Todmorden.

Both teams had chances, but it stayed 1 - 1 at half-time.

Ladybridge beat the offside trap to go in front about 10 minutes into the second half.

Both teams were creating and missing chances. Daniel Lively in the Todmorden goal pulled off a save when the ball hit his shin and cannoned off the post into his arms.

With about 15 minutes left Todmorden changed formation to 4-3-3 and it paid dividends.

Terry Lowe crossed the ball and Daniel Aspinall headed into the bottom corner to level the scores.

With five minutes left Borough got the winner when a cross into the box was put past the keeper by one of his own defenders.

On Saturday the reserves have a tough game away to Blackpool Wren Rovers.
