Burnley suffered their seventh defeat in their last eight outings in the League Cup despite going ahead at Turf Moor - here's how we scored the tie?
Sean Dyche made 10 changes for the visit of Sunderland in the second round of the Carabao Cup, with teenage winger Dwight McNeil the only player to retain his place from the 1-1 draw against Wolves at Molineux. Jay Rodriguez had given the hosts the lead in the 12th minute, but goals from Will Grigg, Tom Flanagan and George Dobson sent Sunderland through.
5. Ben Gibson
6 - Comfortable on the ball when playing out from the back and did everything that was asked of him in and around his own penalty area. Luke O'Nien barely had a sniff.
7 - The Chelsea midfielder was both industrious and productive in what was his first competitive start in close to 18 months. He covered ground, was clean in possession and impressed with his eclectic mix of passing. unfortunate to have applied the touch that led to Grigg's equaliser.
6 - Worked hard and ran himself in to the ground before being replaced by Wood in the 68th minute. However, the winger's creative flair was at a premium. Other than striking the upright from Vydra's assist, the former Spurs man failed to make an impact in the final third..
6 - Never really got to grips with the game and often went missing. Broke up play when Sunderland looked to break through the middle and looked after the ball relatively well in possession, though he didn't have that killer pass in his locker.
