Todmorden Borough officials are likely to meet within the next fortnight to charter the club’s passage into new waters.
The Bellholme outfit have left the West Lancashire League, after a difficult 2014-15 season beset by home postponements and player unavailability
Craig Milnes’s side finished next-to-bottom of Division Two with five wins and two draws from their 26 games.
Several long trips to Cumbria had been identified as a major problem for attracting and retaining players and Borough want to switch to the East Lancashire League as a result.
Blackburn United, Edisford Bridge and Newchurch FC were elected into Division Two at the recent AGM and league chairman Ken Inckle, on the league website, said Borough had made a late bid to join.
Milnes said: “I am getting in touch with the lads to make sure they are still up for it.
“We will also have an under 14s team and maybe an under 18s.”
Milnes said a management meeting would be held in the near future to discuss the way forward. Chairman Kevin Brough, treasurer Phil Morton and junior boss Andy Pilling were other key figures likely to be involved.
Meanwhile, Milnes will be running a year two and three schools’ tournament at Bellholme next Wednesday. Six schools from Todmorden and one from Bacup will take part.
