It follows Tuesday’s 3-2 FA Trophy exit at the hands of lower-league Matlock at the Shay.

Ousman Cham gave a youthful Town side an early lead last night, the midfielder’s shot proving too strong for ‘keeper Callum Jakovlevs, who got a hand to the ball.

The Shaymen, who had Danny Hone back from injury and wearing the captain’s arm band, settled after the goal and passed nicely.

William Storrie went close for Silsden and Isaac Baldwin for the visitors.

Town had a narrow escape when Storrie missed from close range just before the break.

Hone’s substitution at half-time led to Town’s downfall with the defence less secure and their performance tailing off.

Storrie cut in from the left and curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net for the equaliser.

Two goals in three minutes sealed the Shaymen’s fate and took Silsden through to the last eight.

Kyle Hancock fired a free kick past Kyle Trenerry and Daniel Riley sealed victory from close range at the back post.
