Euan Logue was an easy choice as Todmorden Athletic under eights’ man of the match in the 9-3 win over Warley Blues after he notched a double-hat-trick.
Logue’s opening two goals were almost identical, cutting in on the left from a tight angle.
Frank Cooper had played the perfect through-ball for Logue’s second and it was Cooper’s turn next, running at the Warley defence from a goal kick and beating the keeper.
Warley soon pulled one back but this was soon cancelled out thanks to Dan Adams’ midfield tenacity and a great through ball to Logue, who produced another great left-footed shot.
Warley replied with an own-goal from a defensive mix-up but Logue bagged another straight from the re-start.
By now Todmorden were dominating with Freddie Priestley and Jack Suthers giving their usual gritty, ball-winning performances.
Logue’s final goal came direct from a perfectly taken corner that went right through the Blues’ defence.
At the other end Warley’s goals had dried up thanks to an excellent ‘keeping display from Brett Hopley.
Todmorden’s Will Hammond shot inches wide from a halfway-line free-kick and soon after he was sending the perfect throw-in to Cooper, who completed his hat-trick.
