Todmorden Sports Centre had a fine bank holiday weekend with the under 10s winning the Calderdale Cup and the under sevens runners-up at the Radcliffe Borough event.
Two under sevens teams were among a strong field of 20 sides in the Lancashire tournament on Saturday and Todmorden Thundercats qualified for the semi-finals.
They did so following a thrilling penalty shoot-out against Walshaw, goalie Aidan Bourne performing heroics to save five out of six penalties.
The semi-final against Bury Reds finished 0-0 but Thundercats won another penalty shoot-out with Ged Duffy scoring the clincher.
The final was against Pennine Reds from Rochdale. Tod led twice through Charlie Pickens and Alfie Hackett but had to settle for the silver medals after a 4-2 defeat.
On Monday the under 10 Todmorden Tigers faced Ovenden West Riding at the Shay.
Tigers took the lead when captain Ciaran Bourne headed home a perfectly delivered corner from Thomas England.
Tigers withstood intense pressure through superb goalkeeping from Ethen Shoebridge, supported by strong defending from Bourne, Jack Redmond and Fenner Hughes-Jeffries.
In a nervous finale, midfielder Noah Priestley powered through the defence to fire home off his trademark left foot. There was no way back for Ovenden and Tigers were worthy 2-0 winners.
