Wins for Ryburn and Shelf FC

Ryburn United are 17 points clear at the top of the Haslem-Sheppard Halifax AFL after winning their penultimate Premier Division match of the season last night.

They beat Challenge Cup finalists Greetland 1-0 at Ripponden Wood and will complete their programme against the same opponents at Goldfields in eight days’ time.

Shelf FC, who have dropped two points less than Ryburn but face an exhausting end of season schedule, beat visitors Illingworth St Mary’s 4-0 at Westwood Park.

Two goals from Callum Lewis and others from Alex O’Keefe and substitute Ben Ireland gave them victory over the bottom club in the 12th of their 20 Premier fixtures.

Shelf, who are up to fourth, travel to play Hebden Royd Red Star tomorrow before back-to-back games against third-placed Midgley United.

There were a couple of games in Division Two last night.

Junction Inn, who will finish third, won 5-1 against Sowerby Bridge Reserves and Midgley United won 5-0 away to Sowerby United Reserves to move up to fifth.
