Homing: Tough for pigeons over the channel

TEN members of Todmorden Hominng Society sent 123 pigeons to Fougeres for last Saturday's race.

Liberated into a north west wind, freshening on the channel, the birds were in for a tough time.

First to clock, and flying 375 miles to Lydgate, were Brian and Sandra Fisher, their bird taking nine hours and 45 minutes, just ten minutes in front of Derek and Ryan Cullinane, flyinng to Halifax Road.

Third and fourth was Pete Gater, flying to Littleborough. Next week's race is from Cheltenham.
