Medal haul for archers

Four members of White Rose Archers travelled to Wakefield on to compete in the Yorkshire Indoor Championships and came back with two medals.

Many of the county’s best archers were present, giving a “big match” atmosphere and the pressure was on everyone to make each of their 60 arrows count.

Amy Smethurst was first girl under-12 “recurve” with a score of 221.

Nigel Smethurst was second gent “barebow” with 421 and Ian Reynolds shot 577 to take fourth place in the gents “recurve” while Nick Crowther scored 563 to take fifth place in the gents “compound.”

Nick was also awarded a certificate for recently setting a new Yorkshire compound record of 860 for a “Western round.”

White Rose Archers held their first competition of the season, with 19 archers taking part including two juniors, who had their own competition.
