Matthew Brown won Todmorden Golf Club’s President’s Prize, which was held over to last Saturday due to a second round tie.

The competition was played as a Stableford and Brown scored 33 points in the morning while rival Mike Hartley scored 29 in the afternoon, when the wind was stronger.

Both have had superb seasons, Hartley playing with great consistency and Brown reducing his handicap from 22 to 16.

The September Medal was held as the support competition. The winner was Gary Fisher (87-19=68) from Trevor Barnes (78-8=70) and Melvin Link (77-7=70).

Dave Hollows and Dave Setterfield received the Midweek Four ball Knockout trophy, having produced a great fightback to beat Warren Duckworth and Stephen Hill with a birdie on the 19th. They won five of the last eight holes.

In Sunday’s Silver Rabbit final Gareth Jones beat Alan Payne 4&3.

The open stroke support competition was won by Dave Stafford with a nett 70 from Warren Duckworth (72) and Bill Simpson (78). All other players had no returns.

Colin Greenwood beat Keith Lacy 4&3 in the final of the Seniors’ Midweek Knockout.

The final of the ladies’ two ball knockout was a nip and tuck match between Lady Captain Janet Taylor and Julia White, who was conceding eight shots.

An eagle on the 15th helped Taylor win 2 and 1 - her fourth major win of the season after successes in the Centenary competition, Helen Grey and President’s Prize.

On Thursday the other ladies played a fun competition with three clubs and a putter.

Janet Topham took out a driver, eight iron and a sand wedge and scored 38 points, aided by a birdie on the 15th.

Linda Bell was second with 33 points and Joyce Jesson third with 27 points.
