Walsden Cricket Club will not have an extra tax bill to meet after an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs.
The Scott Street club cancelled plans to bring Sri Lanka Ranil Dhammika, a key member of last year’s Central Lancashire League-winning side, back for another year while the inspection took place.
However, the club says in a statement that following the submission by the club of a much information, that HMRC would not pursue matters in relation to previous years.
Walsden say they have always attempted to comply fully with HMRC, who have given the club clear guidelines and regulations for the future.
The statement concludes: “The committee of the club are happy that the steps they have taken since the onset of the HMRC investigation will ensure that the club should have a healthy financial year.
“They will also enable it to continue with the on-going development of facilities within the club and remain in a satisfactory financial position in the foreseeable future”.
Walsden launch their junior academy on Monday and will be offering quality coaching for 5-7-year-olds from 4:30pm-5:30pm, for 8-11-year-olds from 5:30pm-6:30pm and for the under 11s, 13s and 15s squads from 6:15pm-8pm.
The club will have the function room on standby in case of poor weather and full use of the new £18,000 state of the art practice facility.
