PROFESSIONAL Qaiser Abbas crowned a fantastic season easily coming top of Todmorden Cricket Club’s averages.

The former Pakistan international became the Lancashire League’s leading wicket taker with 108 victims and also smashed the club’s record, which goes back 45 years.

Abbas finished with an average of 12.28 well ahead of all the other Todmorden bowlers, who only managed 84 wickets between them.

Abbas was also leading scorer with the bat amassing 822 runs at an average of 51.37 with 100 as his highest score.

Opener Simon Newbitt also finished as the league’s leading amateur run maker.

He scored a total of 735 runs at an average of 33.4. His highest score was 125 runs.

Fellow opener Ben Sutcliffe hit 526 at an average of 23.9 with a highest score of 91 and Nick Barker got 434 runs at an average of 25.52 with a highest score of 62.

Freddie Priestley topped the batting averages for the second team, with his dad Stuart toppjng the bowling figures.

Dave Hatton topped the third team’s batting figures and Ilias Hussain the bowling.
