TODMORDEN’S winning run goes on. It’s now nine from nine in all competitions
Even though their game at Centre Vale on Sunday with Ramsbottom was washed out - along with the rest of the Lancashire League - they won their Twenty/20 game on Friday at Burnley.
The home side chose to bat and made 131 for five in their 20 overs with wickets being shared between the bowlers.
Only professional Imad Wasim was able to make headway against the Todmorden bowlers and he made 78, finally being caught by Ben Sutcliffe off the bowling of Nick Barker.
In reply Todmorden hit 134 for three to win by seven wickets with two balls to spare.
Skipper Andrew Sutcliffe said: “They got off to a flyer and in the end we did well to restrict them to 131 with their pro batting the majority of the innings.
“Again, the variety in our attack proved vital in containing Burnley’s score.”
Todmorden’s pro Qaiser Abbass was the mainstay of the visitors’ innings, hitting an unbeaten 66.
He was well supported by Nick Barker who got 35.
“Qaiser again got another not out proving to all that he is very comfortable in English conditions in all formats,” said Sutcliffe.
