Orienteering team win qualifier

EAST Pennine, the orienteering club for Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield, won the North East qualifying round of the Compass Sport team competition.

Several Calder Valley runners were among those contributing points to the winning score.

James Logue won the men’s open category with James Williams third. Siarlot Lloyd was placed second in the women’s under-18 class and Alasdair Pedley scored maximum points in the men’s under-14.

They go to the National final in September where, among others, they will meet Lancashire neighbours Pendle Forest.
