Todmorden Borough Reserves had it all to do when they visited league leaders Blackpool Wren Rovers.
Manager Craig Milnes was just pleased he managed to cobble together a side.
They were competitive for the first 25 minutes but eventually the home side’s superiority told over a team, who had hardly played together, and it was 2 – 0 at half-time.
With an injury to the goalkeeper Milnes had to come on in goal, and for the third game in a row saved a penalty.
His side tired in the second half and conceded five more goals.
With the majority of his regular players missing, it was always going to be a tall order.
But they showed plenty of spirit and effort, especially Terry Lowe, who had to plough a lonely furrow up front.
