Umpiring honour for Walsden stalwart
DISAPPOINTMENT for Walsden at their failure to reach this year’s Wood Cup final has been good news for one of their former skippers.
It has meant that Trevor Bailey has been given the honour of umpiring the final at Monton and Weaste’s ground between Middleton and Royton.
Trevor, who took up umpiring seven years ago is no stranger to the cup final.
He played in six Wood Cup finals with Walsden.
His first was in 1970, culminating 25 years later when he captained the Scott Street side’s cup triumph at Milnrow against Ashton in 1995.
