Walsden lose out in rain-hit derby

WALSDEN lost out in a Central Lancashire League derby clash at Littleborough.

The game was reduced to 25 overs a side because of the weather.

Walsden made 128 for six in their innings with Kris Halstead top scoring with an unbeaten 38.

He got support from openers Matthew Dawson (22) and Jake Hooson (23) and Andrew Butcher (19).

Former Todmorden professional Mo Bux grabbed two wickets for 48 runs for the home side.

But Walsden’s total was not enough as Littleborough reached 129 for four with almost two overs to spare.

Almost all the home batsmen were in the runs as they posted a total of 246 for five.

But newcomer Daniel Howley found the conditions to his liking as he plundered an excellent 92

Then the bowlers took over to get rid of Littleborough for 189.

Joe Gale was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 49 runs.
