Photography competition 2014: a weekend ahead to get your entries in

The weekend is nearly here and it’s the perfect time to send us your suberb snaps for the Hebden Bridge Times/Todmorden News/McCarthy & Stone Photography Competition.

From animal photography to beautiful photographs displaying the stunning Calder Valley scenery, we’ve received some fantastic snaps - but we want to see more.

Watch the video to view a selection of the photographs entered so far and if you are a budding photographer, submit your entry for a chance to win £350.

The first photograph of Erringden Moor comes from Rory Prior.

The second picture, submitted by Simon Hannah, shows the River Calder

The final picture shows beauty spot Gibson Mill and was sent to us by David Zdanowicz

Karen Harrowell, regional sales manager for McCarthy & Stone - the UK’s leading retirement developer - said: “The Calder Valley is a beautiful place steeped in history. We encourage people in and around the valley to enter the photography competition and capture this stunning area and its rich heritage.”

The winning photograph will be showcased at Leedham Court, on Victoria Road, Hebden Bridge - McCarthy and Stone’s forthcoming Retirement Living development in Hebden Bridge.

As well as having the honour of being published on the wall of the upcoming 32-apartment Retirement Living development, the winner will also receive £350 and second and third place will win £100 each.

Photographs must have been taken in the Calder Valley this year or between now and the closing date.

Entrants must be submitted by November 5, 2014 to with ‘Photography Competition 2014’ in the subject line.

In the email, please detail your name, address, age, contact number and a brief description of where the photograph was taken and what that area means to you. One entry per person.

The photographs will then be posted on the Hebden Bridge Times and Todmorden News websites and we will ask for your views of which pictures should make our shortlist. The final six will be judged by employees at the newspapers and a representative from McCarthy and Stone.
