Show makes it a double celebration

TODMORDEN bookshop proprietor Colin Lyall is having an exhibition of his own contemporary pencil drawings at the Meeting Room Gallery, South Square Centre, South Square, Thornton, near Bradford, until October 2.

The series of complex and eclectic drawings began life whilst working in studios at the invitation of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Since then Colin has been able to develop the series of drawings at Grumpy’s Mill Artists Studios in Todmorden, where he lives.

The second cause for celebration is that Lyall’s Bookshop, Rochdale Road, Todmorden celebrates ten years of existence. The shop doors opened for the first time in September 2001 with owners Colin and Kate wondering if they had enough books!

Since then the business has grown in popularity and stock – they now have over 35,000 books in stock and welcome customers not just from the UK but from all over the world.

They thank all their customers both near and far for the positive comments made about the shop and the loyalty they have shown in perusing the stock.

Despite credit crunches, currency collapses and financial meltdown they feel there should always be time to browse and enjoy the presence of books.
