A amateur cook will be serving up treats in Halloween week for several invited guests - and a national TV audience of millions.
Claire Lemon hopes her small screen debut does not turn sour when she appears on hit Channel 4 show Come Dine With Me.
TV cameras spent a day in Claire’s home, on Stonemere Avenue, Todmorden, earlier in the year as she prepared her menu and then held her dinner party.
“It’s quite nerve-wracking,” she said.
“With a crew and a production manager watching, it’s a bit distracting.
“Rest assured, I didn’t go on to show off my cooking skills.
“I’m not a good cook. I just went on for the experience.”
The film crew also accompanied Claire on a visit to butcher Paul Stansfield’s stall on Todmorden Market to buy ingredients for her meal, which included a main course of “boozy lamb”.
Claire, who is a human resources manager for a firm in Middleton, said it was a great experience being on the show and she got on so well with the other contestants that she has stayed in touch with all of them.
It has been a long wait to see the finished programme.
Filming took place in February but the show is scheduled to be aired next week.
“I’m a bit apprehensive but looking forward to seeing it on the TV,” she said.
She plans to mark the occasion with a special event.
“I’m trying to organise a party and get together with the other contestants on the show,” she said.
“Everybody is really excited about it.
“It’s been the talk of the town.”
Claire has been a fan of the show for many years and is a regular viewer.
While watching the show one evening, one of her friends jokingly said she should go on the programme because “You’re such a good cook”.
Claire thought “Why not?” and sent in her application to the producers.
Eight months later, her moment of fame has arrived.
