The highlight of 3 Valleys Gospel Choir’s autumn season - and the singers’ last performance for this year - will be at St Mary’s Church in Todmorden on Friday, December 19.

The church was the scene of the choir’s first performance, back in 2008.

The concert, “A Century of Carols and Candlelight” (1914-2014) will take place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and will feature carols and Christmas music with mince pies and mulled wine or soft drinks being served.

Tickets (including refreshments) are adults (£5) and children (£3) and are available from St Mary’s Church, Physio and Therapies on Halifax Road, and Todmorden Information Centre.

It completes a busy few weeks of festive singing by the choir at venues, which have included the White Lion, Heptonstall, the White Swan in Hebden Bridge, Gordon Rigg’s Garden Centre at Walsden and, tonight, December 11, when they will sing at a number of pubs around the town.

l The popular Big Sing event to raise money for Christian Aid returns for 2014.

This year it will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, December 17, in Hebden Bridge Methodist Church Hall, Market Street, Hebden Bridge.

Richard Pierson for the organisers said: “Music will be provided by local musicians and members of Hebden Bridge Junior Band and you are invited to sing along to your favourite Christmas songs and carols and enjoy festive nibbles.”

Entry is free and donations to support Christian Aid’s development work are invited.
