The Three Valley’s Gospel Choir (TVGC) is hoping to hit the right note with audiences when its new season of performances starts next month.
Soulful melodies, pleasing harmonies and uplifting lyrics will fill the air as the choir begins rehearsals on Monday, September 2, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Central Methodist Church, Todmorden.
Rehearsals are held at the same time every week and all are welcome to watch or join in - with no audition or ability to read music required.
Choir leader Ailsa Nicholson brings a background in community choirs as well as an interest in world music and jazz rhythms to this choir’s existing gospel based repertoire.
Supported by a grant from the Community Foundation for Calderdale, the choir will perform from 2pm on Sunday, September 22, in Pollination Street, Todmorden, as part of the Incredible Edible Harvest Festival. Audiences will have to wait another three months before seeing the choir perform again. On December 1, the group will sing outside Morrison’s in Todmorden and also perform that evening at St John the Evangelist in Bradshaw. Later in December the TVGC will sing Christmas songs at Todmorden Market.
A choir spokesperson added: “Although plans for 2014 are still being discussed and finalised, one event is certain - the choir will sing at the wedding of one of its own members in the spring!“
