A heavy cold suffered by guest vocalist Jo Gerard in the last week means that the ‘Antony and Friends’ chamber music concert on Saturday, February 28, will not now be going ahead.

Antony Brannick, who hosts and performs the concerts said: “Jo and I talked about her situation and decided that as we couldn’t be sure she would be in full voice by Saturday and feeling comfortable with her singing it would be prudent to cancel the performance.

“We’re disappointed but both keen to find a new date to perform so watch this space.”

Meanwhile preparations for the next concert on Saturday, March 7, are well under way.

On that occasion Antony is joined by Jonathan Whitehead (violin) and David Leys (cello).

Jonathan currently plays with Todmorden Orchestra and both he and David have performed with Antony previously.

Highlights of the concert will be a performance of Grieg’s dramatic and romantic Sonata in C minor for violin and piano and Arvo Pärt’s hauntingly beautiful ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ for cello and piano.

The concert takes place at 7.30pm in the Central Methodist Church, Todmorden. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Refreshments are provided and a retiring collection is taken.
