WITH echoes of the magnificent Grand Opera Summer Gala still ringing in their ears, Todmorden Orchestra players are looking forward with eager anticipation to their autumn concert at Todmorden Town Hall on Saturday, November 12.
Once again with conductor Nicholas Concannon Hodges they aim to deliver a programme of superb music, to an audience which has been growing in numbers, often close to filling every available seat in the hall.
Before then, many of the players will be “on parade” at the bric-a-brac sale and fundraising coffee morning in the Methodist Church Hall in Bramsche Square, Todmorden, this Saturday, November 5, at 10.30am.
The forthcoming concert will deliver Smetana’s well-known Vltava; the superb Arutunian trumpet concerto, played by acclaimed Scottish trumpeter Brian McGinley; Schostakovitch’s exciting ballet Suite No 4; and a great finale featuring Vaughan Williams’ London Symphony.
Tickets for the concert are on sale on the door on the night, or in advance from Todmorden Information Centre, or by contacting the orchestra secretary on 01706 817333. Charges are £10 and £8 for concessions, and children under 16, £1.
