Hebden Bridge Little Theatre’s Summer production is Neil Simon’s witty comedy California Suite.
It is actually four separate playlets only connected by the fact that the characters act out their various dramas in the same hotel room.
First up are the visitors from New York who spend most of their time arguing about the future of their teenage daughter. Next a wife arrives early to find a prostitute still in her husband’s bed. From England a fading film star returns having failed to gain an Oscar and gets little sympathy from her husband. Lastly two couples from Chicago realise they should never have taken a vacation together.
The visitors from New York are Vaughan Leslie and newcomer Ann Brown. From Philadelphia are Richard Brook, Phoebe Hallgarth and Anita Alzamora and from across the pond are Jenny Gore and Nigel Jamieson.
Lastly, the warring couples from Chicago are played by Nick Turner, Phoebe Hallgarth, Heather McBride and making his debut with the company,Terry Baynham.
