Dagenham girls are immortalised in song

Halifax Amateur Operatic Society is thrilled with its latest coup - to be the first society in the north of England to stage the musical Made in Dagenham which starts on April 13 at the Victoria Theatre. The show follows the fortunes of a group of girls from the sewing room of the Ford Motor Company in Dagenham who went on strike over equal pay. HAOS chairman Geoff Cowgill said: 'We are continuing our recent trend of bringing new releases to the people of Calderdale.'

lPlaywright Alan Bennett sent his best wishes to the Halifax Thespians’ cast of The History Boys who are busy preparing to bring one of his best known works to Halifax Playhouse next week.
