Field Lane Children’s Centre Nursery at Field Lane Primary School on Burnsall Road has been rated “good” by Ofsted inspectors.

In a report, the watchdog said: “Managers and staff form a strong team. They work well together and make effective use of external support to evaluate their teaching practice.

“Children are happy, settled and reassured as they talk to staff.”

The report said managers and staff “had taken appropriate action to address weaknesses identified at the last inspection”

Manager Marie Reid said: “We have hard working and dedicated staff who all contributed to turn the outcome around from the inspection in October 2016, which was a difficult outcome to accept. However it made staff more determined to act on the actions and improve all aspects of the setting even further, and encourage Ofsted to return sooner rather that later. We are pleased in our recent inspection the inspector recognised the secure knowledge staff have to safeguard children and how well we work with parents as partners and other professionals to support the children.

“As a result children are happy and make good progress.

“We are very happy with the outcome and will strive for continued improvements as complacency has no place in early years setting.

“We are now taking part in achievement for all programme called tracking for success and very much look forward to the possibilities this holds for the setting to do even better.”
