Reception class: Apply via Calderdale Council before January 15 for a place at The Halifax Academy
There’s so much to consider when choosing a school for your child but as well as location and facilities, it’s important to look at the ethos of the school and whether you feel it is right for your child and will help them not only learn but develop as people.
At The Halifax Academy they clearly state their aim – and that is to unlock the potential in every young person, supporting them to have an exceptional future. Their ethos is to inspire confidence and independence in students, encouraging them to use their voice to make a positive difference to the world.
And, as the academy provides education for youngsters aged from four to 16 this means they can help your child learn, grow and develop right from the start of their journey at the primary school in Spring Hall lane.
But applications for reception places in Calderdale should be made before January 15 2023 for children starting school after their 4th birthday. All admissions to The Halifax Academy are currently managed by Calderdale Council. Please follow this link for further information: Calderdale Council Schools Admissions.
About the school
The Halifax Academy is committed to an ongoing process of learning, self-reflection, adaptation and growth. Their practice is regularly evaluated and adjustments made to ensure they are providing students with the best education.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Our culture and curriculum put student wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to equip our students with the tools to become resilient young people who can take care of their own wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of others.”
Talk is important at the school where pupils are encouraged to find their own voice to change the world. It teaches pupils how to speak with clarity and conviction, how to listen carefully and how to take part in powerful and productive conversations. Talk infuses every aspect of the school curriculum whether that be storytelling, role play, performing or listening carefully to each other.
“We enable pupils to learn about what matters, and to understand how to effect real change in their school, their community and the world,” they said.
