Health: Halifax's Trinity Sixth Form Academy and Lizzie Jones host life-saving checks in memory of much-loved young teacher

Lizzie, who lost her rugby star husband Danny after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a match, organised the day at Trinity Sixth Form Academy with the help of the team there and Ian Smith, whose wife Beth died suddenly at the age of 31 from a blood clot.
Lizzie was friends with Beth, a teacher and keen performer from Savile Park.

Hide AdThe singer founded the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund in honour of her husband after his death to raise funds for life-saving equipment and heart screenings.
Also there getting checked and supporting the event on Sunday were Halifax MP Holly Lynch and Halifax actor Neil Hurst, whose most recent roles include this year’s ASDA Christmas TV advert.
“The day was a huge success and attended by over 110 people,” said Lizzie.
"A team of five nurses and our consultant cardiologist Richard Lawrence screened on the day where 10 per cent of cases flagged up with further check ups needed.”

Hide AdShe thanked Cardelium for donating the balloons and always supporting the charity, and everyone at Trinity Sixth Form Academy including pupils who volunteered at the event.
