If the fundraiser hits £1,500 before 2pm this Friday, Head Martin Moorman has promised to shave his head during a live-streamed assembly.

Students will also get to chose how close Martin's shave is.

"I'm hoping the kids are kind and let me get away with a number four, rather than the shorter settings. At least hair grows back," said Martin.

So far the school have managed to raise over £900.

The Yorkshire Brain Tumour Charity, is close to Martin's heart, as his son Jake had two lifesaving operations during his teenage years. During his recovery process, which coincided with studying for his A Levels, Jake had to shield from the outside world, much like many vulnerable members of the Calderdale community during lockdown.

Martin said: "Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity are the leading brain tumour charity in our region, dedicated to raising funds for life changing research and patient support.

"YBTC support anyone diagnosed with, or affected by, a primary brain tumour in Yorkshire. Their support is for adult and child patients, as well as their family and carers.

"They provide a range of financial, practical and emotional support, which is available for as long as it is needed. Paul Chumas, the surgeon who operated on my own son in 2014 and 2016 at LGI, was operating on Thursday and Friday. Their life saving work continues despite Covid 19."

Jake is currently studying Geography and Geology at Leeds University and prior to the Covid-19 outbreak was spending a year of study in Bergen in Norway.
