Brighouse Post Office on the move but not to the old site

The Post Office has been forced to look for a new location for its Brighouse office and is looking to move to another unit in the Wellington Arcade.

It was announced last week that the Post Office was looking to move back to the old post office building in Park Row.

However the building is now unavailable.

The proposed new location for the branch is 100 metres from the present Brighouse Post Office at 9 Wellington Arcade and the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend the service hours for customers, the new Brighouse Post Office would have four serving positions, a mixture of one new style open-plan position, two secure fortress positions and a combi-counter, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the retail till.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would be open from 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Saturday. This would offer an extra five hours of Post Office service every Saturday afternoon.

Suzanne Richardson, Area Manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Brighouse and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
