Council pass budget with amendments from opposition groups
The budget put forward by the Conservative-led adminstration was opposed by the Labour group.
Major budget amendments put forward by the Labour group were met with a deadlock of 25 votes for and 25 against meaning that the motion fell.

Hide AdAmendments proposed by the Liberal Democrat group was carried after being backed by the Conservative group - members of the Labour group abstained from voting.
The proposals include measures to improve energy usage across council buildings and to improve insulation in social housing.
Proposals put forward by the Labour group to inject £35,000 into the Orangebox young people’s centre to prevent it from becoming a part-time service were supported by the Conservative and Liberal Democrat groups, but on the condition that the proposals are put to close scrutiny.
The motion was passed unanimously by all members of the council.
