Raiders hit cricket club after firework display

Raiders struck at a cricket club moments after it had held a successful bonfire and fireworks display.

The event at Booth Cricket Club in Luddenden on Saturday was another success with club members and volunteers spending hours preparing for the night.

Chairman Neil Thomas described the robbery as a “kick in the teeth” for the club.

He said that the club house was hit at 12.45am on Sunday, only 15 minutes after the last person had locked up the clubhouse.

PC Kevin Potts, of the Valley North Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Police received a report on the morning of Sunday, November 2, of a burglary which had happened overnight at the cricket club house in Dean House Lane. Entry has been forced to the club house and cash stolen from a safe inside.“
