Hard work pays off in park

A total of 25 volunteers worked to crown lift the trees, clean out the gutters on the shelter, fork over the rose beds,scrape out the footpaths, paint benches and remove any weeds found anywhere in the village memorial park.

Malcolm Silkstone, chairman of the group, thanked all of the volunteers who gave up their time, especially as it was also Fathers’ Day.

Thanks also go to Phillip Schofield, CMBC Lower Valley Area Manager, and Mary Price, CMBC Street Warden for their input.

The group was proud to see a new Union Jack flag being raised on the day to replace the old one which had been blown down during the winter gales.

The flag and a new cord for the flagpole were provided by David Clay, Park Wood Crematorium Manager.

The group would also like to thank David Fielden, of Enterprise Plant Services, who fixed the flag with a specialised machine for free.
