Le Tour: Mytholmroyd bustling with visitors

Mytholmroyd is already swarming with tourists here to see today’s Le Tour Yorkshire as it passes through the town in stage two of the Tour de France Grand Depart 2014.

Crowds arrive at Mytholmroyd station for Le Tour

Thousands of visitors are expected to line the streets ahead of today’s Tour de France race which is expected to pass through the town at lunchtime.

This morning, thousands of men, women and children alighted trains at Mytholmroyd station to enjoy today’s race which will bring tens of thousands of tourists to the town.

On the train, heading to Hebden Bridge, Russell Lawrance, originally from Halifax but now living in Cornwall, said he and daughter Hannah made over a seven hour journey to watch yesterday’s opening of the Grand Depart in Leeds.

Mr Lawrance said: “It’s fabulous for Yorkshire - the Tour has surpassed my expectations of what Yorkshire could achieve.”

Wendy Wade, was walking through the streets of Mytholmroyd before walking over two miles to view the cycle race at Cragg Vale.
