Following a welcome from the President of the Association, Brigadier Andrew Meek CBE, the service began with Regimental Standards being marched in under the command of Capt (Ret’d) John Hogg followed by a group of Korean War veterans who were accompanied by Mr Philip Kim representing the South Korean Embassy.

The Association then gathered at the Regimental Memorial in The Woolshops for a Beating of Retreat by the drummers of the Yorkshire Volunteers.

They concluded their display with a rendition of ‘On Ilkley Moor Bah’tat’ accompanied enthusiastically by members of the Association all of which was enjoyed by the Korean War veterans

A number of the regiment’s Korean veterans, who live in various parts of Yorkshire and served in the Dukes in Korea between 1952 and 1953, were present.

Regimental Association President, Brigadier Andrew Meek, said the service will commemorate and celebrate the lives of 47 members of the Regiment who sadly died during the pandemic.
