We Are Calderdale marks a year of achievements and challenges faced by Calderdale Council and its partners ranging from businesses to health.

It is usually held in March and the 2020 event, hosted by Calderdale College in Halifax, was held a few weeks before the national COVID-19 lockdown brought any larger gatherings to a halt.

Calderdale Council’s Chief Executive, and Accountable Officer for NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group, Robin Tuddenham, said the virtual event had been arranged but because of the current situation with the virus and national lockdown would be postponed until the summer.

He said the event – styled We Are Still Calderdale – was now being planned as a live broadcast on the afternoon of Thursday, June 17.

“Hopefully by June we will be able to look to the future with renewed energy and positivity, harnessing what we have learnt and what we should feel compelled to do together into the future – and above all remembering that We are Still Calderdale and always will be!” said Mr Tuddenham.

In its first two years, We Are Calderdale has reviewed the year, laid out plans for the year ahead, and seen guest speakers including television writer and director Sally Wainwright, whose credits include Gentleman Jack, Last Tango In Halifax and Happy Valley, and Kim Leadbeater, ambassador for the Jo Cox Foundation – Kim is Jo’s sister – at the event.
