Polls open in Calderdale elections

The polls open this morning for the local and General Election at 7am and close at 10pm this evening.

The representatives for two Parliamentary seats and fifteen council wards across Calderdale will be decided.

The Parliamentary seat for Halifax will be contested by the following candidates:

Philip Allott, Conservatives

Trevor Bendrien, Christian Party

Mohammad Ilyas, Liberal Democrats

Asama Javed, Respect

Holly Lynch, Labour

Liz Phillips, UKIP

Gary Scott, Green Party

The Parliamentary seat for Calder Valley will be contested by the following candidates:

Josh Fenton-Glynn, Labour

Alisdair Calder McGregor, Liberal Democrats

Paul Rogan, UKIP

Jenny Shepherd, Green Party

Joe Stead, World Peace Through Song

Rod Sutcliffe, Yorkshire First

Craig Whittaker, Conservatives

Results for the General Election are expected to come in at around 4am tomorrow and the local election results are expected to start coming through between 2pm and 4.30pm Friday.
