Students enjoy trips to Europe and East Coast

Pupils in year seven and eight travelled to Germany earlier this month.

They visited the 2000- year-old town of Koblenz in the Rhineland where they had the chance to see local monuments and also got to spend time in towns including Rudesheim and Cochem.

The trip gave students the opportunity to experience German culture as well as practise speaking the language to help support their studies.

Headmaster Jack Williams said: “We’re committed to nurturing every student’s unique individuality and promoting self-esteem.

“Extra-curricular activities such as these are a great way of ensuring that we do just that.

“They also help students to be the best they can be by putting into context what they’re learning in the everyday classroom environment.”

Year five and six pupils from Hipperholme Grammar Junior School also enjoyed a school trip to the seaside town of Scarborough.

The youngsters visited Whitby Abbey and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park Centre to explore moorland habitat.

Junior school teacher Gina Spencer, who led the Scarborough trip, said: “The trip was designed to give context to an extended curriculum in science, history and geography, as well as highlighting to the children all the social aspects of going away with their friends on a school trip.”
