Teenage girl in Huddersfield street robbery

Police are trying to trace a man who may have information in connection with an alleged street robbery in Huddersfield.

A 15-year-old girl was walking on Somerset Road near the junction with Longley Road around 4.50pm on Wednesday September 17 when she allegedly had her mobile phone stolen by a man who had stopped her and asked to use it.

A male driver stopped after witnessing the incident and shouted out what was believed to be the man’s name before driving off.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton from Huddersfield CID said: “I want the male driver who stopped to contact us. The young victim was very shaken and upset after this incident.

“The driver can contact me directly on 101. Any witnesses or anyone else who may have information can use the same number, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
