UPDATE: Three accidents on one stretch of road

THERE has been three accidents on one stretch of road in Brighouse.

The first accident was outside the Armytage Arms in Highmoor Lane, Clifton, involving two Renault Clio’s. No one is believed to have been seriously injured in the accident that happened at around 1.50pm.

At 1.40pm police were called to a unit on the Armytage Road industrial estate, Brighouse, to an ongoing burglary. Officers attended and the transit van failed to stop for officers and collided with two police vehicles on Wakefield Road, Brighouse, outside the Robin Hood pub.

Two police vehicles and a van were damaged. Three officers suffered minor injuries and are being treated. Two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving. Inquiries are ongoing.

A motorcyclist is in a serious condition after an accident at the junction of Walton Lane and Halifax Road, at the top of Clifton. The accident between the bike and a van happened at 2.30pm. The biker was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Highmoor Lane is closed and Hightown in the direction of Bailiff Bridge. Birkby Lane is open up to Scholes.
