Square Chapel for the Arts is today (May 13) celebrating the 70th birthday of its patron, award-winning British actor Tim Piggot-Smith with the release of exclusive video footage of his performance with fellow patron George Costigan, when they presented An Evening with G&T earlier this year.

The duo performed 26 pieces (an A-Z) including work by Alan Bennett, Randy Newman, Willy Russell, Shakespeare, Dylan Thomas, Dickens, Michael Frayn and Malcolm X to name just a few.

A packed house was also treated to an hilarious short play written especially for the occasion by award-winning Calderdale-born writer Sally Wainwright who is also a patron of the centre.

David McQuillan, newly appointed Director of Square Chapel said: “We are very lucky to have such well-known and active patrons who are willing to give up their time to help raise funds for Square Chapel and its community. The Sally Wainwright in conversation event back in September 2015 and this event in February 2016 were both sell-out shows and have helped raise just over £9,000 towards the future of Square Chapel. It’s also wonderful to see audiences enjoying our programme of work.”
